18th Century Sterling Silver Sugar Nips

A fine pair of sterling silver hall marked sugar tongs or nips.

The "nips" have a beautiful shape with shell shaped grips at the end.

There are two hall marks stamped on the inner edge of the finger holes, a lion passant and the maker's initials 'W I'.

The 'W I' is for William Jury and the lion passant is the style used between 1739 and 1755.

The sugar nips are in good condition. (Circa 1760)
