19th Century Tortoise Shell Table Clock

A 19th century tortoise shell veneered and gilt brass table clock.

The clock has a tortoise veneered case with gilt brass edges, mouldings and a decorative ribbon and laurel mount below the dial.

The plinth base has a gilt brass patera to each end and to the top of the clock is a large ring carrying handle.

The white enamel dial is decorated with swags of flowers and has pierced and cut gilt brass hands.

The brass bezel has a domed glass that hinges open to allow the clock to be wound.

The clock is a time piece so does not strike and is in good condition though the key hole has some chips to the enamel around it. (Circa 1870)
