Coromandel Wood & Gilt Brass Tea Caddy

A mid 19th century Victorian dome top coromandel wood veneered tea caddy.

The caddy has gilt brass pierced strapping and a gilt brass swing handle.

The interior has a pair of dome top tea canisters with brass labels, one marked 'Black', the other 'Green'.

The two lids have spring assisted hinges which pop the lids open when the button is pressed.

The underside of the caddy has a London maker's label 'Howell James & Co, By Appointment , 5, 7 & 9 Regent Street London'.

This item has been used as a prop in the television detective drama "VERA" which is mostly filmed in Northumberland. The episode it will appear in "Blood Money" will be shown in 2020.
