A fine late 19th century Victorian sterling silver mounted cut glass claret jug.

The jug has an oval shaped glass body with a circular foot that has a ground and star cut base.

The jug is finely decorated with engraved birds flying between flowers and branches.

The sterling silver mount is London hallmarked for the year 1891 and has the maker's mark 'T.Y' for Thomas Young.

The handle is in the shape of two crossed logs, the collar is decorated with embossed flowers and the lip or spout is an acanthus leaf.

The circular hinged lid is mounted with a silver bird looking to it's left.

The jug and the mounts are all in very good condition. (Circa 1891)
