George IV Mahogany Open Bookshelves
An early 19th century George IV mahogany open bookshelves.
The bookcase has a loose marble top and two adjustable shelves with mahogany veneer to the front edge.
The frieze below the marble top is cross grained and has a "Pea & Sausage" carved moulding.
To each side of the shelves is a decorative tapering mahogany pillar with square platforms top and bottom.
The bookcase is raised on bold turned feet.
The bookshelves are in good condition, the variegated marble top is a later replacement. (Circa 1830)
