George IV Mahogany Wardrobe


An early 19th century George IV mahogany wardrobe or clothes press.

The wardrobe comprises a two door cupboard top, the interior is split with four linen drawers to the left and a hanging space to the right.

The base has two short drawers over two graduated long drawers, all with cock beaded edges, turned mahogany knob handles and mahogany linings.

The pair of doors have recessed central panels with wonderful flamed mahogany veneer, ebony inlays and a turned mahogany quarter moulded bead.

The wardrobe has a flared overhanging cornice and stands on bracket feet.

The wardrobe is in good condition and come in three parts for moving.

The area below the hanging space has been removed to allow full length hanging that drops into the right hand drawer.

The hanging space has brass hooks around the edge but could have a rail installed. (Circa 1835)
