Georgian Mahogany Glazed Bookcase

A Georgian mahogany bookcase modified in the late 19th century.

The bookcase has a two door top with nine glazed panels that have reeded astragal bars.

The interior is divided down the centre and has a total of six slide out adjustable shelves with a cross grained mahogany veneered front edge.

The two door cupboard base has recessed panels veneered with flame mahogany.

The inner door frames are bordered with rosewood, have box wood stringing and the interior has a single loose shelf.

The right hand door has a working lock and key and the bookcase stands on shaped bracket feet.

The bookcase has been re-constructed in the mid 19th century from a Georgian bookcase with the original timbers and colour.

The glazing in the doors are all Georgian and the bookcase is in good condition. (Circa 1860)
