Georgian Mahogany Secretaire Bookcase

A late 18th century Georgian mahogany secretaire bookcase.

The bookcase has a glazed two door top with a secretaire chest base.

The chest base has what looks like five long drawers but the top two are the fall front to the secretaire.

The three drawers are oak lined, have a cock beaded edge and old replaced circular brass ring handles.

The chest stands on ogee bracket feet and has brass carrying handles to the sides.

The secretaire interior has a baize writing surface and nine oak lined drawers with knob handles.

The arch above the six pigeon holes is a long concealed drawer.

The bookcase top has a pair of glazed doors with shaped astragals that have a reeded decoration.

The interior has a central division and three adjustable shelves to each side, six in total.

The cornice is moulded with a square top edge that is reeded, the frieze below the cornice is veneered in flamed mahogany.

The secretaire bookcase is in good condition. (Circa 1800)
