Georgian Painted Dial Grandfather Clock

An early 19th century Georgian mahogany cased Grandfather clock by William Young of Dundee.

Young was a prolific clock maker who worked from 1805-1843 in the high street Dundee.

The clock has an exceptional quality flamed mahogany case with panels of rosewood veneer to the swan neck pediment and below the quarter columns.

The clock door and panels below have a raised bead detail and the quarter columns are lappet carved to the top.

The pierced dial has a Scottish scene to the top arch with flowers to the corners and the centre of the dial is signed 'Wm Young Dundee'.

The clock has an eight day movement and strikes a bell on the hour.

The clock is in very good working condition, the mahogany case has been sympathetically restored and the clock works come with a 12 month guarantee. (Circa 1830)
