Japanese Satsuma Bowl
A late 19th century Japanese Satsuma pottery hexagonal shaped bowl by Shimazu, Meiji Period (1864-1912).
The bowl has a total of 15 hand painted panels inside and out depicting Japanese scenes of traditional dress (Bijin), Buddist monks (Kannon & Rakan) and Samurai warriors.
The bowl is edged in gilt and panels of sample decoration.
The bowl has the signature for the Shimazu family underneath.
The bowl is in good condition.
