Johnstone & Jeanes Oak Gong
A fine Victorian oak and ebony framed gong stand with beater and bronze gong.
The gong is made by the London company 'Johnstone & Jeanes, 67 New Bond Street, London' (stamped under one of the legs).
The Johnstone and Jeanes company was formed in 1842 and traded under that name until 1880.
The turned oak stand is decorated with ebony finials and turned ebony bosses and has a pair of cabriole legs at each end.
The beater is original with an ebony knob on the end of the bamboo handle and a leather covered ball-beater. (Circa 1860)
