Large Clement Massier Pottery Jardinière
A large late 19th to early 20th century pottery jardinière or planter by Clement Massier.
The jardinière has a paper label on the side "Clement Massier, Vallauris Alpes Maritimes".
The massier family of potters date from the early 19th through to the early 20th century, Clement and his brother started a ceramics factory in Vallauris France in the late 19th century.
The planter has a dark green glaze over painted with what we believe to be large orchid tree flowers and leaves in white green and purple.
The rim and base has a metallic gold glaze which is repeated with flecks of metal gold between the flowers and leaves.
The planter is in good original condition with some flaking of the glaze under the foot and a chip to the foot rim.
