A large Japanese Satsuma earthenware vase of the Meiji period (1868-1911).

The vase is decorated with two large panels, one a group of four deity with a child and the other with four scholarly gentlemen and a child and is signed underneath.

In-between the panels the vase is decorated with chrysanthemum and coloured hexagonal panels.

The decoration is in very good condition with only the slightest wear to the rim. To the underside there is visible a line crack where someone has dropped something into the vase in the past. (Circa 1900)
