Mein of Kelso Mahogany Tobacco Caddy

An early 19th century Georgian Scottish mahogany tobacco caddy probably by Mein of Kelso.

The caddy is circular with an octagonal tapering body and a turned and carved lid.

The turning and carving are in the style of Mein of Kelso in the Scottish borders.

The caddy sits on four flat turned bun feet and has the remains of the foil lined interior.

The caddy is in good condition, the lid has to be pressed and twisted to get a good tight fit.

This item has been used as a prop in the television detective drama "VERA" which is mostly filmed in Northumberland. The episode it will appear in "Blood Money" will be shown in 2020.
