Mid 19th Century Gothic Wardrobe

A mid 19th century Gothic design mahogany four door wardrobe.

The wardrobe has four wonderful flame mahogany veneered doors with half triple pillar columns and a carved Gothic arch with a coronet to the top.

The overhanging cornice has the same flame mahogany veneer to the frieze and semi circular decorative patera to the top edge.

The two end cupboard open to a full hanging space with original gilt brass and pottery ball hooks, a later brass rail and a sliding tray above.

The centre cupboard holds three removable sliding linen trays above two short over two long drawers with oval gilt brass handles.

To the reverse of the middle doors are shaped full length mirrors.

The doors have brass catches with turned rosewood knob handles that turn to open the doors.

The gilt brass door catches are marked 'Secure Lock' with a crown and VR underneath.

The wardrobe is very unusual and made from excellent quality mahogany, it is priced to have some minor restoration undertaken before delivery.

The wardrobe breaks down into seven pieces for transport, the pair of mirrored doors are on pins so they lift off. (Circa 1840)
