Oil on Canvas Landscape by Charles Collins
A Victorian oil painted landscape picture of sheep in a coastal scene by Charles Collins signed and dated 1886.
Charles Collins was the son of Alfred Collins, who was also an artist, his full name was Alfred Charles Jerome Collins but signed his work Charles Collins so as not to be confused with his father's work.
Charles Collins exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1867-1903 and is known for his painting in and around Dorking and Surrey, we believe this scene is along the Surrey coast line.
The painting seems to be in its original 19th century frame and is in very good condition.
The painting was bought out of a family estate in Scotland.
There is a re-attached old label to the back of the frame reading "Artist: Charles Collins, Local Scene Landscape Paint F. Exhibited Royal Academy 1880-1893". (Circa 1886)
