A pair of 19th century papier-mâché and lacquered face screens or fans.

The papier-mâché panels have a shaped edge and are black lacquered and have a hand painted decoration.

One screen has a scene of flowers with an open book and a dove on one side and a posy of white flowers on the other.

The other screen has a scene of fruit with an open book and a cherub on one side and a stem of red berries on the other.

The screens have turned wood handles that are gilded and ebonised.

The screens are in good condition with minor nicks to the edge and the gilt handle is rubbed. (Circa 1840)
