An early 19th century George IV zebra wood (Goncalo Alves) knee hole dressing table.
The table has, by repute, come out of Whittingehame House Midlothian (Circa 1817).
Whittingehame House had a 'Zebra' bedroom where the décor was based on zebra skins and heads etc, the central drawer on this table has a label 'Zebra Bedroom'.
The table comprises a long oblong galleried top over five drawers and two cupboards.
The drawers all have mahogany linings and turned knob handles.
The two lower cupboards have central knobs and deceptive keyholes, the keyhole has a release catch to open the doors.
The large kneehole has beautifully carved scrolling corner brackets and inset to the back is a hidden shelf.
The table stands on six turned and reeded legs with gilt brass casters that have a good moving action.
The front turned legs continue up the front of the table with an interesting fluted detail.
The is very rare table is in excellent condition with a finished back so it can free stand.
