An early 19th century Regency papier-mâché tray.
The tray edge is decorated with scrolling gilt acanthus while the centre has several mythical and grotesque birds and butterflies.
The birds are perched on floating or suspended platforms making the whole scene surreal.
The tray is in good original condition with some wear to the gilt rim. (Circa 1820)
