Regency Style Mahogany Bracket Clock


A late 19th to early 20th century Regency style mahogany cased bracket clock.

The clock has an eight day movement that strikes a coiled gong on the hour and half hour.

The silverised dial has Roman numerals and the retailer's name "R L Christie Edinburgh".

The works have the maker's mark for James Jones Elliott of 156 Cheapside, London.

The company was founded by James Jones Elliott in 1865. J.J. Elliott & Company was formed in 1886 Following the death of J.J. Elliott in 1904, the company continued under the direction of his son Frank Elliott who in 1909 merged the firm with Grimshaw and Baxter of Grays Inn Lane London.

The mahogany case has a domed and reeded top with brass inlay to the front and stands on gilt brass bun feet.

The clock is in good working condition. (Circa 1900)
