A late 19th century Russian black lacquered box by Vishniakov.

The long oblong shaped lid is decorated with a winter scene of a Russian troika being pulled through the snow by  three horses.

The lid has a long metal hinge and inside is red lacquered and has the maker's stamp on the underside.

The base sits on four moulded feet and has a lock but no key.

The box is in good condition with some minor wear to the painted scene and a tiny chip to the keyhole escutcheon. (Circa 1890)
